Christy Oakenfull

Ozone Coffee Roasters

Christy Oakenfull is a familiar face within the West End Precinct. Bean Store Manager at Ozone Coffee Roasters she no doubt has made you a great coffee and if you’re a regular like me – will know how you take it.

You get the feeling Christy has always been interested in coffee and has a passion for not only for being a barista but the process and manufacturing aspects as well. Christy moved to Wellington for university and to take up a degree at Massey for design. It wasn’t long before the coffee mecca of New Zealand had Christy working in cafes across the city. She mastered her barista skills both here in New Zealand and then in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Christy, originally from Bulls but spending her high-school schooling years as a boarder at New Plymouth Girls High is no stranger to the region. It was an easy decision for her to move back and settle in New Plymouth after travel. The surf was calling, and she loves the city for what it has to offer in the arts, culture and cuisine sector.

Ozone Coffee Roasters which is celebrating 20 years in business this year and has a branch in London and soon-to-be Auckland, offers a range of site-brewed coffee. Asking Christy what her favourite blend would be – she does this with a smile – Ardi a single origin Ethiopian blend but also her cat’s name.
